Teen Drug Rehab Program

A Drug Rehab Program designed SPECIFICALLY for Teens and Adolescents

At Vista Academy, we believe in providing adolescents and teens with the opportunity to rigorously pursue success by achieving balance in sobriety, fitness, productivity, life skills, and emotional intelligence.

Drug Rehabilitation ProgramVista Academy’s teen drug rehab program is a unique environment that addresses chemical dependency issues for adolescents and teens through a holistic approach. Vista Academy promotes and develops five primary core competencies that empower a young person to take control over their life. Through education, life skill development, productivity, physical fitness, and sobriety, Vista Academy assists the young person in understanding and developing their emotional well-being.

The Five Core Competencies

At Vista Academy we base our work on the five core competencies. Our needs are met through a cycle: We have a need. That need creates tension until we find a way to express the need. Once we learn how to express the need, we seek an active intervention to address the need, and then there is a release, which causes us to feel better. The five core competencies are ways the youth can express, intervene and release their needs in healthy and positive ways. The Five Core Competencies are:

1. Sobriety

Utilizing the Twelve Steps model young people learn how to live free of mind-altering substances.

2. Emotional Intelligence and Well-Being

Through therapy, mentoring and modeling, young people learn effective management of feelings and emotions; Empathy, Self-understanding, emotional self-control, harmonious and productive relationships.

3. Life Skills and the Ability to Manage Stress and Daily Challenges

Learning skills in communication and literacy; decision making, educational and occupational requirements, problem solving and time management and planning.

4. Productivity

Advancing education and vocation: Learning how and wanting to be productive in a sober environment through educational and occupational requirements.

5. Fitness

Being of sound mind and body: Learning about our bodies, internally and externally, and the benefits of physical fitness.

Through education, therapy and life skill development, the outcome young people learn is how to live with sobriety individually, with family, and in their community.

Approaching Sobriety from All Angles

Teen Drug Addiction Program

Vista Academy offers young people and their families a fresh start and a new way of helping the young person become successful by achieving sobriety individually, with family, and in the community. Through a holistic approach that includes life skills and physical fitness development, many of the activities include an opportunity for sober recreation as well as physical fitness. Youth are given an allowance and a weekend activity fund to enjoy group entertainment with residential staff and mentors.

Our young people participate in cultural, entertainment, and sporting activities off-grounds as planned by the treatment team. Vista Academy staff always supervises these activities. Youth are driven in agency vehicles to and from activities by the same staff that supervises them.
